While most of you know the benefits of a generator, we thought we’d let you know about a couple fun facts to keep in mind when buying a permanent generator:

1. A permanent generator is tied into your buildings electrical system through a generator transfer switch.
2. During a power outage, these switches isolate your “emergency” wiring aka power from your generator (providing power to chosen sources from normal power), then continue to transfer the remaining sources needing power to the generator!
3. Once power comes back on and is reestablished, the switch will reconnect your “emergency” wiring back to the regular power / utility lines and will then turn off the generator.
4. Permanent generators are perfect for small businesses or a home because they offer a much higher level of power as well as length of power running time, in comparison to portable generators. (We would still recommend a portable generator over no generator at all)
5. Whatever generator you pick make sure it’s compatible with the fuels available in your area – natural gas, propane, etc. etc. etc.
